Western diet can cause obesity because Westerns eat mainly refined and processed food, which are very rich in calorie and poor in fiber or roughage. Due to high calorie intake, Western diet can cause obesity.

Western diet has high calorie and low fiber, which makes it highly obese who eats the Western diet. Less fiber obviously means high calorie as the content which is supposed to be fiber is made of calories, so high calorie food is eaten by Westerns, and they become obese.
