Default What is "exclusive breast feeding"?

"Exclusive breast feeding" is feeding the baby only breast milk and nothing else, not even water. But medication and vaccinations can be given during exclusive breast feeding. WHO and other health authorities recommend exclusive breast feeding for at least 6 month for a baby after birth.

You may think baby will need at least water, but the required water is received from the breast milk itself. Water is only required if the baby suffers from diarrhea. During diarrhea oral rehydration solution or ORS should be given even during exclusive breast feeding.
